A stimulating and enjoyable introduction to music learning, featuring the lovable 'Onkie' characters. The four book course features a full range of musical skill including aural development, singing, music reading, playing and creating. Each book comes packaged with a CD featuring 'play-along' arrangements of all the pieces and songs.Students who successfully complete the Encore on Keys Junior Series advance to the Achiever Series.

The following features are fundamental to the Encore on Keys Junior Series:

Finger Zips: Small pieces that may be built around only a few notes. Key concepts are introduced and become the building blocks for future learning.
Repertoire Pieces: Solo performance pieces that include Finger Zip elements in a larger and more expressive musical framework.
Ensembles: These develop part-playing skills, group interaction and include percussion parts for rhythm training.
Songs: Each of the books features four songs which are a great source of enjoyment and musical expression.
Music Reading: Book 1 begins with treble staff reading; however, students are encouraged to play the pieces in each hand and as soon as possible, hands together. Transposition onto the black keys is an important extension. The first bass clef notes establishes the inportance of tonic, dominant and sub-dominant harmony in western music. The remaining notes of the C five-finger position are introduced before chord structures are developed.
Aural: Students are encouraged to sing what they read and play. The use of time names for rhythm reading is fundamental to acquiring a feel for beat and pulse.
